Furnace filters have become essential for home and offices because of the many benefits rendered by them. Today, almost every air quality conscious household and a large number of commercial establishments have switched over to furnace filters in order to keep the air clean from dust particles and allergens. While selection of the furnace filters, the general question asked by many homeowners is how do I size my furnace filter? The answer to this is not that difficult.
To settle on the size of air filter you need, simply remove the old filter and look at the sides of the filter. A label should be affixed that indicates the actual size of the filter. Remember that the actual dimensions of the furnace filter will be somewhat smaller, perhaps as much as ½" an inch smaller in both height and width. After you have located the label or printing with the size on it, put back the old filter in its place until you get a clean one to replace it. Measure the filter incase if you cannot find a size sticker on the filter. If there is no old filter to measure, find the track that the air filter would normally fit into. Measure the inside of the track and check it with the filter size chart to pick the air filter size that will fit your furnace. Choose the actual size that is up to ½" smaller than both sides you calculated so that the air filter fits in the track.
